Finance minister says electricity price increased by Rs1.27 per unit

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Asad Umar on Thursday briefed the media on the revised power tariff for domestic consumers, which was decided upon during a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee held yesterday.

Addressing a joint press conference with other federal ministers, Umar confirmed that the electricity rate for domestic consumers has been increased by Rs1.27 per unit; however, households consuming less than 300 units of electricity will not be impacted by the increased tariff, he said.

The tariff for domestic consumers using up between 300 and 700 units of electricity has been increased by 10 percent. Households consuming more than 700 units of electricity will see a 20% increase in the tariff, the finance minister informed.
